The Karnataka chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda in his ever smiling style waved the flag brought by national award winning actress Thara and given a beginning. The other dignitaries on the dais were given the red flag with Gandaberunda imprint the stage was full of red flags and waving continued for a few minutes.

The 4th BIFFES started with Nada Geethe at 6.20 pm and actors Anu Prabhakar and Vijaya Raghavendra conducted the proceedings.

We give you what the speakers have said on this occasion:

BASAVARAJU – Welcome address Principal Secretary of government of Karnataka. These kinds of festivals not only enlighten the social and cultural aspects. It also builds up the friendship. This heritage changes the society. This is a historical movement he pointed and welcomed the guests on this occasion.

TS NAGABHARANA KCA Chairman – Cinema is Kutumba. We build the family and spread it to society and world in general via cinema. This is unforgettable day for me. TSN highlighted the growth of KCA in the last two years and nine months. He remembered Dr BS Yediyurappa former CM who took initiative. This 4th Biffes is window to the world market felt TSN.

HN NARAHARI RAO, Artistic Director of 4th BIFFES – it is not just assembly of films. It is level best attempt to give good and sensible films. In three months we have made good selection and it is a platform for cultural exchange. Rao mentioned the delegates and their countries in his address.

DV SADANANDA GOWDA, CM of Karnataka – I want to stay here but Assembly is there where I have to give reply on Belgaum issue. I prepared a long speech but I can only say good wishes at this moment he mentioned.

DARIUSH MEHRJUI, Iranian film maker – Bengaluru strikes me. This is very civilized, chick city, special language exciting to be here and fifteen films of mine you could watch in asiapacific.com he stated.

ANANTHNAG – I appreciate TS Nagabharana. My intention is that youths should see this film and how to make use for their future should be their angle. India has the socio-cultural atmosphere. It was enlightenment and Education in the beginning and entertainment was next part. Now it is only entertainment part in cinema. West is west and East is East. Both should join together. Parallel and Mainstream cinema should club. I have Shyam Benegal and SK Bhagwn as Gurus. TS Nagabharana has worked as chairman KCA to a level that is difficult for others to follow lauded Ananthnag.

OM PURI – This will be a successful festival. I could say from the attendance today. Karnataka has rich cultural heritage and literature is its strength. My career started in 1975 at Chamundi Hills in Mysore. I faced the first shot of my life when I was totally broke in BV Karanth cinema of one hour. That job I got it from Dr Girish Karnad remembered Om Puri. Later I acted in Godhuli and Thabbaliyu….on Tumkur road. I stayed in erected sets. Thank You Karnataka!  Cinema can change people and then people change society. What kind of entertainment we are giving is very important to notice. We should learn from 50 and 60 golden era of Hindi cinema. They gave the potential entertainment. There was poetry of good value and not like Munni Badnam Hui…of today. I would expect this 4th Biffes move to districts of Karntaka.

KV CHANDRASEKHAR, KFCC PRESIDENT – We should complete use this festival. In the coming years this should have the attendance of national level audience to it.

Vyjayanthi Kashi dance program for which Gurukiran scored the music was the beginning of cultural show.  ‘Lucky’ Zulu language South African cinema followed.
